Going To The Chapel and She's Gonna Get Married

Matt's sister, Heather got married yesterday in Hurricane in their mom's backyard and it was beautiful. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Her yard is gorgeous. I can't believe how much work she has put into it.

We were there the whole day and I didn't even take a picture of the bride and groom. I'm lame! I forgot my memory card for my camera and all I had was the sample card that came with the camera that only holds 10 pictures! Do you know how hard it is to get a good picture where the whole family is smiling (ok so when McKinley is smiling and looking at the camera) when you only have two shots left?

Yay! Success!

I don't know why but I never think to ask someone to take a picture for us and so we only have two pictures where all three of us are in it at the same time, one of which McKinley is screaming!

We were watching the little girls twirl around and around in their cute dresses. McKinley was amazed she didn't take her eyes off them.

There was the perfect bridge there, just McKinley's size. She loved it.

It was a great day!

Fun Stuff

I guess I should say this is fun stuff for people who like to attempt to sew like I do because if you asked Matt if this is, "fun stuff" he probably wouldn't agree! Since I got a new niece of course I had to make a few things for the baby. When I had McKinley I got one of those self-binding baby blankets from my old roomie, Maggie (thanks!) and one from my mom and sister. I love them. They are perfect little blankets to swaddle up those little babies. I searched the internet to find a tutorial to make one but the ones I found I couldn't wrap my head around just how easy they are to make until I found THIS one! You could easily make this in a nap time. Just my kind of crafting! Here is another link with instructions I found as well, HERE.

Cute baby Izzy also needed a new skirt. So I made her one of THESE from Made. These are also very easy and she gives instructions for any size.

Obviously I am not very good at paying attention to instructions because If I tell the truth, I originally made both of these skirts for McKinley but the first one ended up too short and the second one was a little long! I was planning on making the skirts for all the girls anyways. I guess I should learn to measure twice and cut once. The tutorial also gives instructions for really cute pockets that I ran out of time to put on, but hey third times the charm and so maybe the next one I make will actually fit McKinley and will have the pockets. This second skirt I gave to my cute 1 year old niece, Ava. Both skirts fit perfect. If only I took a picture of them in it!

The last little project I like to do is buy the plain white, waffle knit towels from Walmart for a few bucks and add strips of fabric to them to match my kitchen. It's really easy and I think it makes them much cuter. I saw the idea from HERE and HERE. The one below I made for my mom for Mother's day.

This one I made for my Grandma for Christmas. I also made one for my mother-in-law for Christmas but didn't take a picture.

I confess, I am a scrap fabric hoarder and this is the perfect project to use up all those ridiculously tiny pieces of fabric that I can't seem to throw away! I was going to share some other "fun stuff" but this is getting too long so maybe another day.

Road Trip

My sister, Shannon had a cute baby girl. Meet Isabelle. We call her Izzy (FYI, she isn't named after Twilight, it's a family name and after six years she finally had a girl to use it, just thought I'd throw that out there :).

They live in Canada so all the girls in the family plus my little brother headed off. It was quite the drive. 12 hours, on top of the 3.5 hours it took me to get to my mom's house with 3 little girls all under the age of 3! The ride up couldn't have gone better but the drive back was a different story! Two kids throwing up, two "detours" among some other bad things made our 12 hour drive into a 13.5 hour drive! When my niece, Lily threw up she had just eaten a pop tart and sadly proclaimed, "I sneezed up my pop start!" She's too cute.

I always forget to get my camera out whenever I go places but I did manage to remember to take a few pictures of the cute new baby! Plus, I finally captured McKinley's pleading face when she wants me to pick her up. She is definitely attached to my hip lately! Notice the cute little binky thief in the bottom right, you better hide those things when she comes around.

They all went swimming in the tub. McKinley was too busy to ever look at me.

McKinley loves being around little kids. She gets so excited when she sees them that she waves her arms and ankles around and around all the while she squeals with delight. It was tons of fun. We're going back in July and I can't wait!
